Now I realize that the recurring themes in my stories – those recently written and those in the pipeline – differ from those of 2012. There are other needs, other pdonkeyions. Interconnected stories It's becoming almost a mania. I started using this technique after reading the wonderful novel The Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell, cited several times in the blog. And the first story in which I tried it was The Sanatorium of Exaggerated Coincidences . That was then followed by Cloud Hunters . And in another story, much more complex in structure, I am using this technique. I'm the one who calls it technique, in reality it's about elastic stories , as Max Giovagnoli defines them in his book Transmedia .
It simply amuses and stimulates me to write stories connected to each other. I certainly won't abuse this method, on the contrary. I have written two stories and have one in preparation, but many others have a cldonkeyic structure. Parallel worlds I had talked about it as one of the ways to invent stories . How to use parallel realities is the writer's job. I think they are a fascinating topic and one that gives many creative possibilities to an author. I read some articles online to get a more precise idea and I started reading an essay, even if it is certainly not light reading. But I have a few stories in store, like a couple I mentioned in the stories I plan to write . Parallel universes can be exploited in fantasy in general and not just in science fiction.
I don't see them as a typical science fiction topic. It is important, in my opinion, the way in which the writer decides to introduce the concept – reality ! – of the parallel universe, as the writer Murakami also did. Fantastic realism When I read The Morning of the Magicians , I understood the potential of this genre. It's a read to be picked up again soon, because it's not enough to read it just once. As you know, at least you who often read the blog, I'm tired of elves and magic. They believe they have had their day. I don't know how anyone can still be attracted to a fantasy like that. But if vampires and zombies are still around, I think elves and trolls will be around for a long time too. But no thanks to me.
